The Gentry Work and the Direct Application to the Pilates Mat Work

Based on the work of Eve Gentry, this workshop is designed for teachers of any movement discipline, and provides another way of looking at and teaching movement.

On Saturday in this workshop we study the five basic movement concepts: Breathing – breathing patterns to facilitate movement, release tension and pain; Stabilization – exercises to strengthen pelvis and scapula areas to support the movement of the limbs; Sequencing – learning efficient movement patterning; Joint Mobility – isolate the action of a joint to minimize involuntary movement of the supporting structure; and Weight Transfer – simple walking mechanics.

On Sunday this workshop focuses on movement sequences that support and compliment the Pilates mat curriculum and how the Gentry approach can develop a more refined core control, enhanced range of motion and an increased sensitivity to ones own learning.
